Thirty liters works for a one-day ski tour only after a packing test. Insulation, water, first aid and personal items must fit while the shovel and probe remain in their own rapidly opened compartment. Test ski and ice-axe attachments with the actual equipment so sharp parts cannot damage the pack or interfere with movement.
