Rent a ski helmet for Mount Elbrus

A rental ski helmet is selected for head circumference and head shape, then checked with the goggles and headwear that will actually be used. A size label can narrow the choice, but it cannot prove stable fit. The final decision is made during fitting in Terskol.

Send useful booking details

For advance preparation, send the rental dates, the rider’s head circumference in centimeters, whether the helmet is for an adult or a child, and whether goggles are also required. This helps Rock’N’Rent prepare likely sizes, but size and availability remain subject to the in-person fit check.

Measure the head correctly

Place a flexible tape around the widest part of the head, approximately above the eyebrows and ears, and keep it level. Measure twice without pulling the tape tight or leaving it loose. If the results differ, repeat the measurement. Internal helmet shapes vary, so two models carrying the same nominal size may feel different.

Position the helmet level

The front edge should protect the forehead without dropping into the field of view. Adjust the retention system for even contact. With the chin strap fastened, move the helmet gently forward, backward and sideways, then shake and turn the head. It should not rotate freely, expose the forehead or create one concentrated pressure point.

Distinguish secure contact from pressure

A new fit may feel close, but numbness, a headache, pinching at the temples or a painful spot are not acceptable. A helmet that feels loose before movement will not become safer on the slope. Ask for another size or shape rather than trying to solve poor fit by overtightening the chin strap.

Check the actual headwear

A thick winter hat can raise the helmet out of position and change the retention. Try the thin liner, balaclava or other headwear that will be used. Make sure fabric does not fold beneath the adjustment system and that the ears, buckle and strap remain comfortable.

Fit goggles at the same time

The goggle frame should meet the helmet without a large forehead gap, push the helmet upward or press painfully on the nose. Check the strap position, peripheral vision and ventilation while turning and tilting the head. If a hood will be worn, test it without blocking vision or moving the helmet.

Do not substitute a ski helmet for a climbing helmet

This product is intended for resort skiing and snowboarding. A mountaineering route may require a different helmet selected for that activity and the guide’s equipment list. Choose by activity, not by the fact that both products are called helmets.

Inspect before collection

Examine the outer shell, energy-absorbing liner, padding, chin strap, buckle and adjustment mechanism. Look for cracks, deformation, detached components, crushed areas or evidence of a significant impact. Operate the buckle and adjustment system several times. Ask the rental team to resolve every doubt before issue and record existing cosmetic marks.

Collection checklist

• confirm dates, adult or child use and head circumference;
• try the helmet with the actual thin headwear;
• fasten and adjust it, then turn and shake the head;
• check forehead coverage and peripheral vision;
• fit the selected goggles and hood;
• inspect shell, liner, padding, strap, buckle and adjuster.

Care, impact and return

Do not drill, cut, heat, paint or attach unapproved components. Keep the helmet away from boot buckles, crampon points and other hard edges during transport. After a substantial impact, unusual noise, visible damage or component failure, stop using it and contact Rock’N’Rent. Return it for assessment rather than relying on appearance or attempting a repair.

Limits of protection

A correctly fitted helmet can reduce some consequences of impact, but it cannot prevent every head or neck injury. It does not make excessive speed, collision, poor technique or unsuitable terrain safe. Use it with instruction, controlled riding, resort rules and decisions appropriate to actual conditions.
