NITRO LOCK is lighter than CORE LOCK but has different dimensions and ratings. Choose between them by device fit, rope count, gloved handling and required clearance.

How NITRO LOCK differs from other HMS carabiners
NITRO LOCK is lighter than the large CORE LOCK while retaining an HMS shape and 23 mm opening. Choose it when its body fits the belay device, knot or slings and rack weight matters. Compare more than grams: body dimensions, gloved sleeve handling, rope count and the connected device determine practical compatibility.
Pre-purchase check. Assemble the intended system and rotate the carabiner through possible working positions. The device must stay away from the sleeve and the load should remain on the major axis. Check automatic gate closure, full screw travel, the SphereLock nose and 22/9/6 kN markings. Reject sticking action or body damage.
Compare before choosing
Compare NITRO LOCK with the larger CORE LOCK and more compact ORBIT or PHOTON models. NITRO offers an HMS shape and useful opening at lower mass than CORE, but less working room. The correct choice depends on the knot or device, rope count, glove access and whether the connection can remain on the major axis without pressing the sleeve.
After purchase
Retain the instructions and keep the three strength ratings readable. Check gate return, screw travel and the SphereLock nose before each use, especially after transport in snow or grit. Do not force, polish or improvise lubrication. Remove the carabiner from service after abnormal loading, deformation, deep wear, a major impact or any failure of the gate to close and lock normally.
