Assign an experienced operator

Inspect every connection and support
Check the burner, valve, threads or connector, hose if present, pot supports, any windshield supplied with the model and the storage case. Look for deformation, contamination, damaged seals and loose parts. Do not dismantle the valve or improvise a seal.

Place the empty pot on the assembled, unlit stove on a firm level surface. Confirm that the supports open fully and the pot sits centrally. A large pot on narrow supports tips easily, and uneven ground makes a spill worse, so test the actual pot and stove together before you leave.
Operate only in a safe ventilated place
Combustion produces heat, flame and carbon monoxide. Never operate a stove in an enclosed sleeping tent, vehicle or other unventilated space. Keep it away from sleeping bags, clothing, dry grass, fuel storage and anything that can ignite. Follow local restrictions and use the cooking area designated by the responsible leader.
Stop after any abnormal sign
