Renting a snowboard and boot set for Mount Elbrus requires more than height and street-shoe size. Weight, ability, stance, measured foot length and intended use all affect selection. The rental team chooses an available board, adjusts the bindings and checks the boots at collection.

What the set includes
The basic set consists of a snowboard with bindings and snowboard boots. A helmet, goggles, gloves, protection and clothing are separate items. Review the final list before sending it; equipment that does not appear in the request should not be assumed to be included.

A first-time rider may not know their stance. Say so rather than guessing to complete the form. Binding orientation can be discussed at collection.
Board length and width
Height provides only a starting range. Weight and ability affect how a board flexes and handles. Boot size matters for board width: excessive toe or heel overhang can be a problem, while a board that is unnecessarily wide can be slower to move from edge to edge. A height-only chart is therefore not enough.
A first-time rider normally needs predictable handling rather than an aggressive specification. Experienced riders can state their preferred flex and style, but final selection depends on the equipment actually available.
Snowboard boot fitting
Measure both feet on paper while standing and report the larger result. Attend the fitting in your riding socks. Once the liner and lacing system are secured, the heel should remain controlled, the toes should not be painfully compressed and the foot should not become numb.
Do not select a boot with a large allowance. Excess movement reduces control, and overtightening the upper cannot correct an unsuitable shell. Walk for several minutes and test a flexed riding stance.
Binding checks
Ask staff to confirm stance width and angles, boot centring, straps, ratchets and highbacks. Fasten and release the bindings several times yourself. The controls should work in gloves without twisted straps or excessive force.
Do not reposition bindings or change their setup without speaking to the shop. Stop using the equipment and contact staff if a strap, ratchet or other component fails.
Helmet, goggles and protection
A helmet should remain secure without rotating freely. Goggles should work with the helmet without a large gap or pressure on the nose. Beginners may also want to discuss knee, elbow and wrist protection. Protective equipment does not replace instruction, speed control or terrain appropriate to the rider.

Frequently asked questions
Can I rent only a board?
Yes, if your own boots are compatible with the available bindings. Bring them for a physical check; street-shoe size is not sufficient.
Can the stance be changed?
Ask the rental team to adjust it. If the original information was wrong, have the setup corrected before riding.
Can I extend the rental?
Request an extension before the paid period ends. The shop must confirm that the set remains available.

Bringing your own boots and renting a board
Your own well-fitting boots can be used with a rental board only after a compatibility check. The actual boot footprint, strap position and ability to centre the boot in the binding matter more than street-shoe size. Bring both boots to the shop and have them installed before accepting the set.
Your own board with rented boots requires the same check. A photograph of a binding is not a substitute for fitting, particularly when the system is old, unusual or worn.
Your first day on a snowboard
Tell the shop clearly if you have no previous experience. This helps avoid an unnecessarily demanding board. Equipment selection does not replace instruction: the first session normally covers controlled stopping, safe falling, lift use and speed management.
Do not choose an excessively long board “for later”. The set should match current weight, height and ability. Impact shorts, knee pads and wrist protection may reduce some common injuries, but they do not make uncontrolled speed safe.
Clothing for riding
Jacket and trousers should allow you to squat, fasten bindings and raise your arms without restriction. Use a layer system rather than one heavy sweater. Cotton absorbs moisture and dries slowly. Gloves should cover the wrists while allowing you to operate the binding ratchets.
Wear one appropriate riding sock for boot fitting. Two thick socks take up space, create folds and may restrict circulation.
Does a rental board permit off-piste riding?
No equipment reservation establishes that a route is suitable. Travel outside prepared pistes requires separate skills, avalanche assessment, a group system and, where required, a transceiver, probe and shovel. Route decisions are separate from renting the board.
Return and extension
