C.A.M.P. PHOTON LOCK is a full-size aluminum screwgate carabiner with a SphereLock nose for versatile rope, sling and anchor work.

Its low weight and full-size body are useful, but its role is determined by shape, opening and the connected device or anchor. The screwgate must close completely and remain easy to inspect.
Check before payment. Check gate action, screw threads, nose and body. Do not compare carabiners only by major-axis strength: cross-loading and an open gate change the system substantially.
Where PHOTON LOCK is useful
PHOTON LOCK combines a full-size body with low weight, making it useful where a locking carabiner needs reasonable clearance without the mass of a large HMS model. Its shape must suit the exact device, sling or anchor. Major-axis strength alone does not make it equally suitable for a Munter hitch, several ropes and every belay device.
Pre-purchase check. Insert the intended device or sling and make sure it cannot press on the sleeve or create a cross-load. The gate should close fully by itself, the thread should travel through its complete range and the SphereLock nose should be undamaged. Read all three strength ratings and reject cracks, deep grooves or deformation.
Compare before choosing
Compare PHOTON LOCK with the exact alternative for the connection. A wider HMS carabiner may provide more room for a Munter hitch, several ropes or a bulky device, while a compact D shape may align some loads differently. Weight is only one criterion: gate opening, body section, sleeve access in gloves and the connected equipment determine whether this model is the right choice.
After purchase
Keep the instructions and make the carabiner identifiable within the rack. Before each use, perform the manufacturer’s gate and sleeve checks and inspect the body and markings. Keep it away from salt, chemicals and abrasive contamination and do not improvise lubrication or repair. After a major fall, abnormal loading, deformation, gate malfunction or uncertain history, quarantine it for competent assessment.
