A good Mount Elbrus ski, boot and pole rental set is not selected by height alone. Ability, preferred speed, snow conditions, body weight, foot shape and the terrain you intend to ski all matter. A useful request therefore begins with accurate information and ends with a proper boot fitting and binding check before collection.

What a ski rental set includes
The basic set consists of skis with bindings, ski boots and poles. A helmet, goggles, gloves and insulated clothing can be added separately. These are separate rental items and should not be assumed to be included unless they appear in the confirmed request.
A complete set is practical when you are traveling without equipment. Renting individual items makes sense when your own boots fit well but transporting skis is inconvenient, or when you need to replace only one item.
Information needed to select skis
- height and weight;
- ability: first day, beginner, confident intermediate or expert;
- preferred speed and style;
- rental dates and number of calendar days;
- usual shoe size and, ideally, foot length in millimetres;
- whether you also need boots, poles, a helmet, goggles or clothing.
Height provides a starting range for ski length, but it does not replace an ability assessment. A beginner normally benefits from predictable handling. How to measure your foot before booking
Place a bare foot, or a foot in a thin sock, on a sheet of paper. Put your weight on that leg and mark the back of the heel and the end of the longest toe. Measure the straight distance in millimetres. Repeat with the other foot and report the larger measurement. Mention a wide forefoot, high instep or pressure-sensitive areas.
This information helps staff prepare likely options, but it does not replace fitting. Different boot shells and liners feel different even when the printed size is the same. Put the boot on, fasten it and test it in a flexed ski stance. The heel should remain controlled without painful pressure or numbness.
Why choosing one size larger is not a solution

Do not change the adjustment yourself or move boots between sets without speaking to the rental shop. Stop using the equipment and contact the shop if a boot, binding or ski behaves unusually.
Helmet and goggles are functional equipment
A ski helmet should fit securely without rotating freely or obstructing vision. Ski goggles should work with the helmet without a large gap or pressure on the nose. Visibility on Mount Elbrus can change quickly, making clear, compatible goggles important in snow, wind and flat light.
When to reserve
Popular sizes can be limited during holidays, weekends and periods of good snow. Send your dates, height, weight, ability and foot measurement in advance. A submitted form is not a confirmed reservation: wait for a written reply stating what is available and how collection will work.
If your rental period changes, request an extension before the paid period ends. Additional days can be paid after confirmation by the shop; keeping equipment without agreement is not an approved extension.

Bringing your own boots and renting skis
This can be a practical combination when your boots fit well and are suitable for the intended skiing. Familiar boots may reduce fitting problems while rented skis avoid oversized airline baggage. Compatibility must still be checked in person. Staff need the actual boot and its sole length to confirm that the binding can be adjusted correctly.
If you bring skis but intend to rent boots, send the binding model and a clear description in advance. Compatibility should not be promised from an ordinary shoe size or a single photograph.
Piste skis and ski touring are different requests
A normal piste set is not a ski-touring set. Uphill travel requires suitable skis, bindings, boots and skins. Travel outside prepared pistes may also require avalanche equipment, training and a route decision by a qualified guide. State clearly whether you intend to ski marked pistes or go ski touring.
Describe your ability honestly
A higher claimed level does not produce “better” skis; it can produce a more demanding set. A lower claim can also prevent a useful match. Tell the shop how many seasons you have skied, which pistes feel comfortable, whether you control parallel turns and how you feel about speed. This is more informative than the word “intermediate” alone.
Children and group bookings
For a child, provide accurate age, height, weight and foot measurement and complete an in-person fitting. Do not choose equipment with a large allowance for growth. For a group, list each participant separately. Two people with the same street-shoe size may need different boot shells.
